Only upon arrival does she become tangled up in the supernatural events of a horror story that Wake wrote to escape his captivity. 13 years following Wake’s disappearance, FBI agent Saga Anderson is sent to the town of Bright Falls to investigate a string of ritualistic murders.
Remedy Studios even apparently consider this their first true survival horror game, claiming the first entry was more of an action game with horror elements, so be prepared for some good scares. More so than the first game, Alan Wake 2 seems set to be more of a horror experience. You’ll be able to fight off enemies with weapons you find on your journey across Bright Falls, the dilapidated town of Watery, and of course, the Dark Place. You’ll have free choice over which character to play through first, with both having their own trials to overcome as they face the nightmare brought on by the pages of a horror story come to life.
Players will follow two separate character stories, that of the titular protagonist and that of an FBI agent. Like its predecessor, this game will be a third-person perspective, single player experience. It will of course also be available on the epic games store if you’d prefer to go digital, though. In addition, you may not need to download the game as standard upon release, as news of an Alan Wake 2 physical version being available upon release once again has started up. PS4 and Xbox One fans are out of luck here, unfortunately. The game will be available to play on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
